About me

Rethinking technical ceramics - for me, means we look beyond the "ceramic" horizon together, think outside the box and take new paths in the manufacturing processes.

My approach

The development of customised solutions for my clients is close to my heart.

That's why I listen very carefully to what you want and need.

Together, we will look beyond the traditional ceramics approaches to consider the task from new and maybe unusual perspectives.

My professional background

In May 2020, I founded my StartUp Keramik Innovation Berthold.

The years of experience in the field of technical ceramics as a plant, production and development manager and the knowledge and joy of the sheer endless possibilities of this exciting material formed the basis for me taking the step to starting my own company. Here, I am able to develop creative ideas for new products and processes.

A first major success is the patent for electrically conductive ceramic composites based on silicate ceramics, which was granted in February 2023.

After studying chemical engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen/Nuremberg, I started my career as a process engineer in the piezoceramics division of CeramTec GmbH in 1986. In 1996 I took over the position of the responsible production manager of the piezoceramics division. After the successful conversion of production from manual processes to largely automated large-scale production, I played a major role in the development of the piezoceramic actuator for diesel injection systems.

After a few years as production manager for silicate ceramics, I moved to the STEKA in Innsbruck as technical manager, where I was responsible for production support. In addition, I initiated cooperation with universities for the further development of silicate ceramics. With the University of Innsbruck, I realised one of the largest Austrian research projects on the topic of ceramic modification.

In 2014, I returned to Germany and started working at CoorsTek GmbH. In addition to process optimisation, the focus of my tasks was the development of innovative products and material mixtures. From 2017 until the beginning of 2020 as Director Engineering EMEA.

Some of my successful innovations

  • Development of the manufacturing processes for the rational production of a piezoceramic actuator for diesel injection systems.

  • Development of an electrically conductive ceramic based on silicate ceramics (2013). Patent AT 525295
