A successful example of our ceramic product development is our collaboration with the start-up CiX at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).
CiX is pursuing the vision of completely removing pollutants from water. To achieve this, the team is developing a new type of technology that uses electrical energy to efficiently destroy micropollutants - including drug residues, hormones, bacteria, viruses and PFAS (perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, also known as ‘perpetual chemicals’).
As part of its development, CiX was looking for a specialist for a highly complex ceramic component - a central element of its system technology. Keramik Innovation Berthold was selected as development partner to work on a customised solution for this challenge.
Thanks to close and targeted collaboration, a ceramic material that fulfils the required properties was developed within a very short time. The component is currently being tested and is already making a significant contribution to the functionality of CiX technology.
Our motivation:
Using our expertise on materials to solve technically demanding tasks and put future-oriented ideas into practice - together with committed and innovative partners who work on solutions to global challenges.
